Description
For this campaign for Maybelline New York's Shine Beast lipstick, I worked at Mathematic Studio on beauty retouch, clean-up and color grading. Shine Beast is a high-shine lipstick available in 8 shades, and the work focused on enhancing the product and meticulously cleaning up each shot.
All my working rushes were in 16:9. The campaign was then adapted into multiple formats for the Asian and Polynesian markets, particularly Japan where the campaign featured ambassador Yamada Ryosuke.
My work covered frame-by-frame lip beauty retouching, product imperfection removal (dust, scratch marks, light glare), and set clean-up (removing stray cat hair from the red backdrop) to ensure a flawless, high-end look across all distribution formats.

Clean-up & red set perfection
White cat hair scattered across the red background created strong visual distractions. Any stray detail on the set risked drawing attention away from the product.
Targeted clean-up in Flame erased every stray cat hair from the red backdrop. This thorough cleaning ensured a smooth, pristine background to highlight the product.
Beauty retouch & product enhancement
Close-up shots highlighted minor imperfections on the lipstick and lips: dust particles, scratch marks, and unwanted light reflections that compromised the Shine Beast finish.
I performed frame-by-frame beauty retouching in Flame to eliminate all imperfections and stray reflections, while preserving the product's high-shine texture and shade accuracy.
Multi-format adaptation
Destined for Asian and Polynesian markets, the campaign demanded flawless quality across multiple formats cropped from 16:9 rushes. Tight framing risked magnifying any lingering defect.
Beauty retouch and clean-up were executed to hold across all aspect ratios, guaranteeing that key focal areas (lips, product, background) remained pristine on every delivered version.
